Install Cueframe
Trial build. Requires a Mac running macOS 13 or newer and your DJ software with video enabled. Steps are for macOS 15 Sequoia, with notes for 14 and 13.
Cueframe is independent software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Serato. Serato and Serato DJ Pro are trademarks of their respective owners.
What is a trial?
The trial lets you try everything in Cueframe for free. Each session lasts 20 minutes and shows a Cueframe watermark on the picture. You get a warning at 2 minutes and again at 30 seconds before the session ends. Quit and reopen the app to start a new session. A licence code removes the limit and the watermark.
1. Install
- Open the file
Cueframe-<version>.dmg(double-click it). - Drag the Cueframe icon onto the Applications folder in the same window.
- Close the window and eject the disk image (drag it to the Bin, or click the eject button in Finder).
2. Open it the first time
This trial build is not yet signed by Apple, so macOS will not open it straight away. This is expected. You only need to do these steps once.
macOS 15 Sequoia
- Open Cueframe from Applications. macOS says it cannot verify the developer. Click Done. (Do not click "Move to Bin".)
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the Security section. You will see a message that Cueframe was blocked. Click Open Anyway.
- Confirm with your password or Touch ID.
- Click Open Anyway once more in the next window. Cueframe starts.
macOS 14 Sonoma and macOS 13 Ventura
The steps above work too. A shortcut also works here: in Applications, hold Control and click Cueframe (or right-click it), choose Open, then click Open in the window that appears. This right-click route no longer works on macOS 15.
Advanced users: Terminal fallback
Open Terminal and run:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Cueframe.app
Then open Cueframe normally.
3. Permissions Cueframe asks for
- Audio capture (sometimes shown as System Audio Recording): so Cueframe can record the sound. Click Allow (or switch Cueframe on in System Settings).
If you said no by mistake
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Select Cueframe in the list and click the - button to remove it. Then click + and add Cueframe again from Applications. Switch it on.
- Quit Cueframe completely and open it again. macOS only applies the change after the app restarts.
4. First run
- Start your DJ software and turn its video on, then open Cueframe.
- Cueframe starts in trial mode. You will see the watermark on the picture and a countdown for your 20-minute session.
- To enter a licence code: open Settings > Licence, paste your code and confirm.
- Your Device ID is shown on the same page. Click Copy next to it and send it with your request if you were asked for it.
5. If something goes wrong
- The app will not open. Repeat step 2 from the start. If "Open Anyway" is missing, open Cueframe once more, then look again in Privacy & Security. Or use the Terminal fallback.
- Black picture. Check that the video in your DJ software is turned on. Then restart Cueframe.
- No sound in recordings. Check the audio permission (step 3), then quit and reopen Cueframe.
- Still stuck? Open Settings > Diagnostics, save the diagnostics file and email it to [email protected] with a short description of what happened.
